Dr. Darren Patrick is a native of Salyersville, KY and graduated from Paintsville High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.
He did his externships at the Birmingham VA Medical Center and in private optometry and ophthalmology practices in Tuskegee, Alabama. Dr. Patrick has been named Kentucky’s Young Optometrist of the Year and received a citation from Kentucky’s House of Representatives for his exceptional and dedicated service to his patients and the advancement of eye care in the Commonwealth. Dr. Patrick underwent training in laser and surgical procedures with Northeastern State University. He is an active member of the Greater Louisville Optometric Society, Kentucky Optometric Association, Southern Council of Optometrists, and American Optometric Association.
Dr. Patrick volunteers with the Kentucky Vision Project, Nelson County Community Clinic, Bardstown Lion’s Club, InfantSee, as well as at local school vision screenings and health fairs. He was president of the Bardstown Optimist Club, which serves the youth of the community. He is a member of the Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Patrick is married to fellow optometrist, Dr. Cristina Patrick. They have two sons, William and Mason, and they reside in Bardstown. Dr. Patrick enjoys playing music, traveling, and biking.
